Spending the day at magical Luce Farm
Earlier this month I had the opportunity to visit Luce Farm in Bethel, Vermont. It was a unique opportunity to speak with their staff and owners Joe and Becca, and to connect with other retailers that carry the Luce Farm line of CBD products. We enjoyed fresh brick oven pizza and sipped ice cold lemonade with CBD infused honey, of course! But the real treat was hearing the story of how Luce Farm came to be and learning more about their product cycle, from seed to shelf.
Joe and Becca’s farming journey began with organic vegetables. After receiving an offer to grow hemp for Research and Development purposes, Becca began experimenting in the kitchen making salves and honey. When she noticed that her hands weren’t experiencing the pain they normally did, they knew they were onto something. They began doing more research, quality testing, and standardizing their ingredient levels.
Luce Farm only extracts the cannabinoids from the flowers of the hemp plant, believing that the highest quality cannabinoids and terpenes are found in the flower, and that that level of quality cannot be mass produced.
During my visit they spoke about the seed they grow from, how they clone the plants, and carefully (by hand) propagate the strain. They value quality over quantity. When I asked how they will keep up with increased demand, they explained that they work with 7 small organic farmers in Vermont and aggregate the crops next door to their manufacturing facility in downtown Bethel. They have staff who oversee these farms and test the plants to ensure that they are growing with the quality and consistency to meet their standards.
Another fascinating part of the tour was a presentation from Megan Faletra, a Dietician based in Woodstock, who spoke about the endocannabinoid system and how CBD works in our body. I believe education about the products we sell as retailers is of the utmost importance. I feel confident in recommending this product to our guests based on the quality standards and philosophy of the owners and their business practices. Luce Farm is open to visitors with proper notice, and I encourage everyone to take the opportunity to visit this farm, de-stress, and feed your soul! See more photos below! -Jennifer Foley
