VT Lead Catering and Rounds Cook (Full Time)
Our café is looking for a Lead Catering & Rounds Cook (LCRC), someone who can bring our catering department to the next level; someone whose passion shines through in delectable special orders and kitchen prepared dishes! This person is responsible for the execution of all catering orders in the HL café, as well as acting as a Rounds Cook; covering shifts for ALL other kitchen positions to ensure the café is always productive and running at full speed and capacity!
An LCRC always prioritizes catering and makes sure our catering guests are beyond satisfied. The LCRC will receive all catering orders and it is then up them to hand off of the perfectly prepared food to the guest taking pride in personally preparing the food, always keeping quality and consistency in mind. The LCRC hand delivers each order to the guest when they come to pick it up, or calls the guest for follow-up if the order is delivered. The LCRC is also a chameleon, a jack of all trades; able and willing to fill-in in any area of the kitchen when needed.
Effective communication skills, attention to detail, and great leadership ability is key for this position. The right candidate will have had at least 3 years of professional kitchen experience, with a culinary degree preferred. Previous experience cooking, banquet cooking and/or kitchen prep/production is necessary.

Our Meat Cutters will know the finer art of cutting meat and the proper techniques for producing quality cuts of meat & fish that are as close to perfect as possible and creating delicious house made products. VT Wine and Beer Associate
Healthy Living is searching for our next GREAT Wine and Beer Associate.The wine and beer department at Healthy Living Market and Cafe is known for its eclectic mix of amazing products and we are searching for the perfect person to complement this area with their passion, energy and knowledge of wine and beer. This department is part of the Specialty Foods Team so staff members will also be crossed trained in the cheese, bread and housewares departments.
This position requires someone that is a self-starter; someone who can self-manage, stay on task, work independently and ensure that the department is maintained properly throughout the shift. The ability to lift cases up to 40lbs throughout the shift is necessary. Our Associates ensure that the department is abundantly stocked, beautifully organized and merchandised effectively. Our staff is also well known for their friendly, upbeat and knowledgeable guest service skills.
This person must also be a dependable and reliable team-player as this is a small close-knit department.

Our Pastry Baker assists with necessary prep and products that are needed to fill the grab and go case and the rack of non-refrigerated items such as tart boxes, crisps, bread puddings, puddings, quick breads, coffee cakes, pies, and other items as necessary/directed to include gluten-free and vegan products. The Pastry Baker also ensures the necessary prep and products are made to provide the AM Baker with product for the cold case such as tart shells & fillings, finished tarts, cupcakes, individual cakes, bars/brownies, and other items as necessary/directed to include gluten-free and vegan products.
Interested individuals should possess at least 1 year baking/pastry experience, have at least 1 year in a professional kitchen environment and have a PASSION for all things sweet & delectable. VT BOH Lead (Full-Time) – Evening Position
Healthy Living Market & Café is seeking a self-motivated, knowledgeable and passionate leader to take on the role of an evening Lead/Rounds Cook in our Café – Back of House (BOH). As the BOH Lead this individual will be responsible for overseeing all staffing and kitchen operations in the absence of the BOH Manager during the evening hours. He/she will be the main point of contact for all BOH staff and will act as a liaison between BOH and FOH staff.
The excellent BOH Lead will always stay calm under pressure, remain positive, ensure staff members are happy and productive and effectively lead the café team to delicious success when the BOH Manager is not in the house! This individual will be a role model for staff; following all café procedures and protocols as well as enforcing them among the rest of the café team. This individual needs to be a great multi-tasker, delegator and communicator ensuring that all tasks are getting completed as necessary and regularly communicating with BOH Manager/Executive Chef. Healthy Living’s Hot Bar is without a doubt the most popular section of the café. With that being said, we are currently looking someone to maintain this wonderful area of the store as a Hot Bar Cook! Our hot bar cook creates a wide-range of culinary delights from eclectic to classic that includes vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and meat-loving options. These items are part of a hot bar with 12+ daily options & 2+ soups for lunch and dinner, as well as a full Hot Bar for our weekend brunch. Hot Bar cooks in our Cafe are leaders and role models for other Cafe staff.
The excellent hot bar cook will create every dish for the hot bar as if it were for his/her own family dinner. This individual will take care to use only the freshest ingredients and ensures that recipes are being followed. The hot bar cook NEVER cuts corners in the cooking process, ensuring that every dish is consistent in flavor and appearance. The hot bar cook also checks the hot bar regularly, anticipating the needs of our guests and re-filling when needed.

The AM Baker is also responsible for preparing all the mise en plas and prep for the following day’s bake to ensure that the morning deadlines are met and our early bird customers get what they had been dreaming of since the night before. The AM Baker is also the master behind the finishing and garnishing work for the cold case. Our tarts, cakes, cupcakes, and custards are finished off to dazzle the eye and customers stop to admire their beauty. The AM Baker knows that we eat with our eyes first and so ensuring that our cold case items are visually stunning makes it so customers can’t help but take some home!
Without the AM Baker the bakeshop falls behind schedule and into a frenzy of flour-butter-sugar madness! The AM Baker is a necessary component of the well-0iled machine that is the HL Bakeshop. These items are part of our grab n’ go cases as well as our deli case and provide delicious food for our guests to enjoy in our cafe or at home. The excellent Rounds Cook creates every dish as if it were for his/her own family. The Rounds Cook is a chameleon; able and willing to fill-in in any area of the kitchen such as Hot Bar, Bakeshop, Catering, Sandwich and Salads, and sometimes dishwashing as needed! Healthy Living Market and Cafe is seeking an energetic individual to join our Cafe team as a Prepared Foods Packager! Our Café Team Food Packagers are responsible for packing a wide-range of culinary delights from eclectic to classic that include vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and meat-loving options. These items are part of our a la carte program, our Home Meal Replacement (HMR) case, as well as our “grab and go” case. Food packagers are the last ones to see and touch our product before it hits the shelf and are therefore responsible for ensuring that the food is neatly and beautifully packaged, using correct packaging materials and appropriate labels. Packagers are also responsible to ensure that expired product is pulled from the shelves and to regularly monitor the cases.
Our busy and popular café is a destination for food lovers in our area. Our grab-and-go cases and prepared foods can fulfill any eater’s breakfast, lunch or dinner dreams. No matter what happens in the kitchen the PRODUCT is what the guest sees, and the Packager is the person who bridges the gap between preparation and purchase.
