VT Culinary Assistant (Part Time/Full Time)
We are hiring a Culinary Assistant for our Back of House Café!
The Culinary Assistant is responsible for an array of tasks, first and foremost, making sure that our hot bar and salad bar are full of beautiful, fresh food for our guests to enjoy. The Culinary Assistant moves food from our busy kitchen to the service areas where our guests can buy it. The Culinary Assistant communicates constantly with the kitchen team about what is running low and when to fire the next round of dishes. The Culinary Assistant offers next level hospitality to our guests, keeps the cafe floor, tables, chairs, busing stations and beyond neat and clean. VT R&D Project Lead: Meal Kits
Healthy Living is seeking a talented, organized individual to help develop and launch a very exciting new food program. Meal kits are offering consumers new ideas and added convenience in their busy lives – Healthy Living is looking to provide guests with this same option, but with that special flare HL is known for. We are seeking an experienced food service professional who can help us build a program from the ground up. The project requires: recipe development and pro-forma modeling, test rounds and feedback evaluation, working with our marketing team to help tell the world about this new option, meal kit production, in-store demos and promotion. This individual should be highly motivated – a self-starter with creativity and a passion for food and cooking. Impeccable organizational and communication skills, experience managing budgets, purchasing, and menu planning required. Resources and support for this position will be provided. When launched, this program will change the meal-kit landscape by offering a truly local approach with lots of great selling points for our Guests.
This is a 3-month full-time temporary position with potential for permanent employment based on the success of the program. Applicants must have open availability.
VT Delivery-Rounds Associate (Part Time)
Healthy Living Market & Café has an exciting new job opportunity. We are looking for a Delivery-Rounds Associate!
The Delivery-Rounds Associate (DRA) is a jack of all trades – trained in almost every department of the store, everyone relies on them in times of need. The DRA can throw freight in grocery, merchandise produce beautifully, bag groceries like a champion, wash dishes in a pinch, package food with accuracy and consistency, and of course – deliver next level hospitality to our guests. The DRA happily steps into any position needed on any given day. They bring a sparkling attitude and positive energy to whatever department they are joining that day.
At any moment the DRA may be asked to go out on delivery – taking the gorgeous, hand crafted food we are famous for off-site to our guests’ front door. The DRA delivers food quickly and efficiently, always taking the fastest route and being mindful of time away from the store. At the same time, they always take the utmost care in making sure our food is delivered in perfect condition with no slipping or shifting during transport. Healthy Living’s Hot Bar is without a doubt the most popular section of the café. With that being said, we are currently looking someone to maintain this wonderful area of the store as a Hot Bar Cook! Our hot bar cook creates a wide-range of culinary delights from eclectic to classic that includes vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and meat-loving options. These items are part of a hot bar with 12+ daily options & 2+ soups for lunch and dinner, as well as a full Hot Bar for our weekend brunch. Hot Bar cooks in our Cafe are leaders and role models for other Cafe staff.
The excellent hot bar cook will create every dish for the hot bar as if it were for his/her own family dinner. This individual will take care to use only the freshest ingredients and ensures that recipes are being followed. The hot bar cook NEVER cuts corners in the cooking process, ensuring that every dish is consistent in flavor and appearance. The hot bar cook also checks the hot bar regularly, anticipating the needs of our guests and re-filling when needed.

VT AM Baker (Full-Time)
The AM Baker is the master behind the magic. The AM Baker creates all the phenomenal baked goods that tempt the palates of customers who rise early and wait outside our doors for these scrumptious morning treats. The AM Baker takes the utmost care when making his/her bakery creations, meticulously preparing each cookie, muffin, scone, quick bread, brownie and bar as if it were for his/her own family. The AM Baker makes sure the bakery case is clean as a whistle, stocked to the brim and visually appealing every morning on or before the deadline. The AM Baker is also responsible for preparing all the mise en plas and prep for the following day’s bake to ensure that the morning deadlines are met and our early bird customers get what they had been dreaming of since the night before. The Rounds Cook is a chameleon; able and willing to fill-in in any area of the kitchen such as Hot Bar, Bakeshop, Catering, Sandwich and Salads, and sometimes dishwashing as needed! The Rounds Cook takes care to use only the freshest ingredients for his/her dishes and never cuts corners in the cooking process, ensuring that each dish is consistent from one execution to the next. Healthy Living Market and Cafe is seeking an energetic individual to join our Cafe team as a Prepared Foods Packager! Our Café Team Food Packagers are responsible for packing a wide-range of culinary delights from eclectic to classic that include vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and meat-loving options. These items are part of our a la carte program, our Home Meal Replacement (HMR) case, as well as our “grab and go” case. Food packagers are the last ones to see and touch our product before it hits the shelf and are therefore responsible for ensuring that the food is neatly and beautifully packaged, using correct packaging materials and appropriate labels. Packagers are also responsible to ensure that expired product is pulled from the shelves and to regularly monitor the cases.
Our busy and popular café is a destination for food lovers in our area. Our grab-and-go cases and prepared foods can fulfill any eater’s breakfast, lunch or dinner dreams. Passionate, knowledgeable and reliable – all attributes of our Catering & Rounds Cook (CRC). Our café is looking for someone who can bring our catering department to the next level; someone whose passion shines through in delectable special orders and kitchen prepared dishes! This person is responsible for the execution of all catering orders in the HL café, as well as acting as a Rounds Cook; covering shifts for ALL other kitchen positions to ensure the café is always productive and running at full speed and capacity!
An CRC always prioritizes catering and makes sure our catering guests are beyond satisfied. The CRC will receive all catering orders and it is then up to him/her to hand off of the perfectly prepared food to the happy guest taking pride in personally preparing the food, always keeping quality and consistency in mind. The CRC hand delivers each order to the guest when they come to pick it up, or call the guest for follow-up if the order is delivered. The CRC treats each catering order as if it were the most important order they have ever filled. The CRC is also a chameleon, a jack of all trades; able and willing to fill-in in any area of the kitchen when needed.
Effective communication skills, attention to detail, and great leadership ability is key for this position. The right candidate will have had at least 3 years of professional kitchen experience, with a culinary degree preferred. Previous experience cooking, banquet cooking and/or kitchen prep/production is necessary.
