Mixed Nut and Seed Brittle
- 2 TB butter
- 2 TB maple syrup
- 1/2 cup pine nuts
- 1/2 cup chopped hazelnuts
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds
- 1/2 cup raw pumpkin seeds
- 1/2 cup raw sunflower seeds
- 2 TB packed brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- 1/8 tsp cayenne, optional
This brittle recipe removes the constant attention required for stovetop brittle and adds a gourmet blend of ingredients, making it fun and simple to create! Feel free to substitute different nuts and seeds to include your favorites!
Preheat oven to 325 F. Heat the maple syrup and the oil together in a small pan for about 30 seconds. Toss the remaining ingredients together in a bowl. Pour on the butter/maple syrup mixture. Stir and toss thoroughly to coat evenly. Spread in a flat layer on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes, turn over with a spatula, and bake for an additional 8-10 minutes until golden brown. Be careful not to burn. Remove from oven, loosen with a spatula and let cool on the sheet for 5 minutes. Store at room temperature in a sealed container.
