Kids in the Kitchen: Cinnamon Rolls
If you were in the store yesterday afternoon and happened to walk through our dairy/frozen foods sections – you may have caught the aroma of cinnamon wafting through the aisles that brought back nostalgic memories of Saturday mornings at Grandma’s. But where was it coming from? It wasn’t from our Café – it was the Learning Center.
In our latest Kids in the Kitchen class, five youngsters learned how to make cinnamon rolls from scratch! They helped our own Nina Lesser-Goldsmith make the dough (some even learned how to crack eggs!), roll out and fill the dough, and even make a tasty icing to top the freshly baked rolls.
And here’s an interesting tidbit from the class: did you know that you can use string to cut dough? Not only is this more kid-friendly since it doesn’t require a knife, but it also works for all types of jelly-roll type goodies because it applies even pressure, rather than smushing down from the top like a knife.
