A Little Feature on Fantastic Father’s Day Gifts

Father’s Day has always been special to me.  I was born on the Father’s Day of 1981 and my dads’ birthday was three days afterwards so he always referred to me as the best gift that he ever got.

My dad grew up in  San Francisco during the 1960’s when Haight Ashbury street was booming with flower children, impromptu Grateful Dead shows and earthy, exotic musky scents mixing in with the ocean air.  He was a skateboarder and a surfer, riding all day and then roasting Brussels sprouts on the beach at night. He was an apprentice engineer at CBS recording studios for a few years and then spend a few more years as a stage manager for The Avalon Ballroom. These jobs brought him in contact with Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Art Garfunkel and more legendary musicians that he would tell me stories about late at night when I would come home from parties in high school.

Despite the stereotypes that are sometimes associated with someone who grew up in this atmosphere, my dad was a pretty clean guy.  I remember cans of Barabasol shaving cream in the bathroom cabinet as well as bottles of Old Spice aftershave and containers of Hawaiian Tropic Tanning Oil being around as well. These were the products that he used on a regular basis (tanning in our backyard in small-town Vermont was a pretty funny sight) and they are scents that will always remind me of him. He was the coolest guy of all time and I miss him everyday.

I had not yet embarked on my adventure as the Lead Body Care Buyer here when my dad passed away in 2001, but if life had gone differently I would certainly be pushing along all sorts of awesome men’s care to him now. John Masters’ 2 in 1 Moisturizer and Aftershave: This face creme has eucalyptus oil and agave in it which help keep your face smooth, blemish free and well hydrated. It also contains beta glucan to help protect against the rough environmental elements that dad’s can weather on a daily basis.
