Whether you’re a coffee connoisseur or brewing beginner, there’s sure to be ample opportunities to enjoy a cup of joe (or two or ten) during the holiday season. Choosing which coffees to offer at your table- or offer as a gift- might be a little daunting, though. Have you seen how many coffees there are?! What if the notes in the coffee clash with the flavors of the food or you’re not sure your mother-in-law will appreciate this particular blend/roast because you can’t for the life of you remember what she likes to drink? Coffee shouldn’t have to require so much thinking (especially if you haven’t had your morning dose yet)!

Well, we’re here for you. Here’s a quick and easy go-to guide for holiday coffee recommendations featuring one of our favorite local roasters & purveyors, Brio Coffeeworks. (Ready for some more good news? They’re on sale until 12/22!)

The Holiday Feast Friend: Calypso Espresso
No espresso machine needed- just brew this Ethiopian/Peruvian/Javan blend with your regular coffee machine and enjoy how its overtones of fruits and nuts complement your holiday table. Particularly delicious alongside desserts; if you want to alternate sips with bites of pie, yule log, or even gingerbread cookies, we won’t judge you. (In fact, we’ll join you.)

The Perfect Gift: Sidama Ardi
This is a very special coffee indeed because it finds the perfect balance of flavor and subtlety. With a creamy mouthfeel and notes of caramel, citrus, strawberry, and flowers, this Ethiopian option will please the most persnickety of palates.

At the Breakfast Table: Honduras Cosma
Sip your way to being bright-eyed and bushy-tailed with this brightly acidic, green apple-y brew that holds its own against hearty, wintry breakfast fare. Those snowmen aren’t going to build themselves!

First Response for Over-Indulging: Tres Damas
It might seem counterintuitive, but you’ll want to answer last night’s booze-or chocolate-fest (you know it’s going to happen) with something mellow, deep, and chocolatey. Avoid the bright and acidic brews and find comfort in cups of this Colombian/Mexican/Peruvian blend. Delicious and restorative all day long.
