Women in Business: Sue Kerber of RAD Soaps

RAD Soap was started by Sue Kerber in 2009. The now family run business operates in Albany, NY. RAD Soap adheres to strict quality standards due to the founder’s belief “If my family won’t use it, then we won’t sell it”. They believe in products with a purpose. You can find RAD Soap products at both our Saratoga, NY and South Burlington, VT locations.

1.) What’s your business’ origin story? How did it all start?
RAD soap was started in my kitchen. With an idea of sharing a mother to mother idea for improving my kids’ health through natural ingredients. I also have daughter with downs who had challenging issue with her skin.

2.) What is the most rewarding part of owning your own business?
I think the most rewarding thing is watching it grow organically. It is your vision unfolding before your eyes.

3.) What are some of the challenges?
Trying to make good decision for employees, customers and keeping your integrity in tact while giving an excellent product to the consumer.

4.) Name one company or business owner that you really admire and why.
Peanut principle Shannon she is someone that I admire and what she has done with her business and holding together her family at the same time.

5.) What advice do you have for other women out there that might be thinking of starting their own endeavor?
Go for it! Just need to take first step most rewarding career ever.
