Featured Beer-Old Stock Ale Cellar Reserve 2009

Mark Ruedrich, the brewer of North Coast Brewing Co., aged his Old Stock Ale in bourbon barrels for 18 months. This is a beer designed to lay down to age for a while, which adds complexity and mellows out the concentrated characteristics. Right now, it has lots of bourbon, brown sugar, and vanilla on the nose. Flavors of caramel, butterscotch, maple, figs, raisins, and vanilla bean are definitely prominent. It finishes with some alcohol but the aging process softens it over time. This is a great special occasion beer or makes a perfect gift for the beer nerd in your life.
