Healthy Living loves local…and so does Divine Wines! Therefore, for the month of June, Divine Wines is featuring Fox Run Vineyards as our spotlight vineyard!
For more than a century, Fox Run was a dairy farm. The first grapes were planted in 1984 and six years later, the dairy barn was turned into a wine-making facility. Since the very beginning, Scott and Ruth Osborn have been passionate about minimal intervention wine-making.

Why does Healthy Living and Divine Wines love them?

Fox Run Vineyards is family owned and operated. They have many sustainable practices including minimized spraying and using a sprayer that recaptures excess material, enhancing soil vigor by adding hay between the rows, monitoring harmful insect populations and responding only when critically necessary. They maintain sod cover of the middle rows to prevent erosion and promote a more complex ecosystem. They compost piles of grape pomace for redistribution in the vineyards and for gardening purposes, and send pomace annually to a local facility that manufactures grapeseed oil. They are a dry farming vineyard with no irrigation systems. Sprays used in the vineyards are organic sprays and biodegrade within 30 days.

The wine-making facility has a water recapture program to limit water waste. Equipment and lighting is all high efficiency. Paper, bottle and plastic recycling programs are in effect throughout the facility. Wine bottles have been transitioned to lightweight bottles, reducing the shipping wastes and carbon footprint of distribution/transportation. Paper is shredded and used as a packing material for gift basket shipment, eliminating the need to have materials to ship in. Wines are both vegetarian and vegan friendly and made from locally sourced products.

In 1996, the wine facility was renovated and in 2001 the dairy barn was redesigned into a new wine center and tasting room. Peter Bell is the head wine maker for Fox Run Vineyards and helps to ensure that they produce roughly 15,000 cases of wine annually. Their 55 acres of vines specialize in Riesling, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Lemberger, Cabernet Franc, and Pinot Noir.

Divine Wines loves Fox Run Vineyards and supporting local, so stop by this June and pick up a bottle of Fox Run wine to support local too!
