Healthy Living Loves Local Celebration: a True Success!
This past weekend, Healthy Living celebrated the harvest season and paid tribute to the local farmers, bakers, cheese makers, food producers, gardeners, and body care specialists that make us such an amazing place to shop. At the Healthy Loves Local Celebration, under a big top tent guests were immediately struck by the smell of potato leek soup from Jericho Settlers Farm and bright vibrant rosemary freshly picked by Julie at Red Wagon Plants…not to mention all the other overwhelmingly delicious scents that engulfed the tent. Local producers and community members gathered to celebrate the wonderful food, products and people of the great state of Vermont!
The event was humming with the fantastic sounds of Kat Wright, Brett Hughes and friends. Kids ran and danced, full of energy (from all the cookie tastings!) and created beautiful bean mosaics and had their faces painted with the help of some stellar HL staff.
The Healthy Living Learning Center and Meat Department tables were a hub of activity as Katy and Nina taught onlookers how to make caramelized onion and butternut squash galettes as well as a sweet apple galette- both were out of this world! The meat department cooked up mighty tasty slow roasted pork tacos with an apple salsa…downright delicious!
We were thrilled to celebrate and support the great farmers and producers from Vermont and show off all of the delicious, nourishing products they work so hard to make. And as always…Healthy Living Loves Local!
