Healthy Living Loves Local: OWL Energy Bars!

Original, Wholesome, Local…

…three words that describe the downright delicious energy bars from OWL Food, a local company in Brattleboro,VT. Owner Alli, an avid mountain girl, who spends all of her time backcountry skiing, hiking, and mountain biking, found a need for something energizing to eat while out on the hill. Growing up, her mom made “no bake” granola bars. She ventured into her own kitchen years later with the goal of recreating the recipe in a healthy way.

When creating her signature recipe the words “you are what you eat” were repeating in her head so she made sure her energy bars were full of quality, healthy ingredients for the heart, muscles, stomach, and mind. When it came time for a name, it was clear that she would name them after her and her husband’s favorite animal, the owl standing for original, wholesome and local.

Since the start of OWL Food, Alli has transitioned from her home bakery to a commercial bakery located at the Brattleboro Development Conservation Corporation where visitors are welcome to visit and see how OWL bars are made in her kitchen (Unit A120). You can also visit Allie and sample her delicious energy bars at our Healthy Living Loves Local Celebration this Sunday (9/30) from 10-1 in the Healthy Living Meadow! We hope to see you there!
