Healthy Living Loves Local: Von Trapp Family Farmstead
The von Trapp cheesemakers have been making organic artisanal cheese on their family’s dairy farm in Waitsfield, Vermont since 2009. They produce some truly amazing farmstead cheeses by using the highest quality milk that they receive from their 40 cows. The cheesemaking room is adjacent to the barn in which the cows are milked. They use traditional methods of small-scale production and continually strive to improve their cheese.
The von Trapp’s mission is to exemplify how to make a small family farm in the center of Vermont economically viable by producing delicious organic small batch cheeses. We feel they are doing a wonderful job at fulfilling their mission.
