COMPANY NEWS: HEALTHY LIVING MARKET & CAFÉ BUILDS SOLAR FARM TO POWER STORE, MOVES ONE STEP CLOSER TO ‘100% RENEWABLE’ COMMITMENT
South Burlington, VT – Healthy Living Market & Café has announced the completion of a solar field built to power its South Burlington store with renewable energy. This initiative further supports HLM’s commitment to sustainability and the environment. The company’s Saratoga Springs, NY location is powered 100% by wind energy.
HLM partnered with Green Lantern Solar of Waterbury, VT for the project, a leading provider of solar solutions in Vermont. Sam Carlson of Green Lantern Solar said, “Green Lantern Solar is proud to partner with Healthy Living Market on the Bethel Royalton Landfill Solar Project. This is a great repurposing of a capped landfill site to produce clean, renewable solar power, made right here in Vermont. Healthy Living Market has demonstrated again its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint, promoting renewable energy, and saving money on its electricity bills, which generates benefits for all of its customers.”
The 660-panel solar farm is located in South Royalton, VT. Along with an off-taker agreement already in place, it will provide about half the energy needed in the Vermont store.
Eli Lesser-Goldsmith, CEO and Co-owner of Healthy Living Market added, “Our new solar farm is a huge step toward fulfilling our goal of making Healthy Living a 100% renewable energy company. Each and every business has to step up to help to create a better world, and Healthy Living is doing its part. With new locations opening, it’s important for us to make the right choices when it comes to sustainability and the environment. From renewable energy to providing 100% compostable options in our cafes and coffee bars instead of single-use plastic, this is something we’re always making a priority.”
