Healthy Living Produce Team Volunteers at Jericho Settlers Farm!
A team of staff spent the afternoon at Jericho Settlers Farm volunteering some hours to help out on the farm. Jericho Settlers Farm was damaged severely by Hurricane Irene and our staff wanted to lend a hand to support one of our local farmers. It was a rainy and dark day so although we anticipated working out in the fields we thankfully spent most of the afternoon in the warm/dry shed, cleaning onions and garlic. It was a fun experience cleaning the onions and garlic because it really allowed us to see the full produce cycle from the ground to our shelves. We also got to visit the Jericho Settlers pigs and learned a lot about their process for raising pigs. Overall a really fun day, helping out one of our loved farmers, thanks team!
