Healthy Living Supports 350 VT

Healthy Living has supported 350 Vermont by providing food and snacks for many of their events this year.  350 VT is a climate change group uniting a mass movement for bold solutions that both lift up Vermonters and cut down carbon — to be a national and global example for solving the climate crisis.

350 Vermont has been busy working towards climate solutions and we are happy to share some of the events that they have organized this year.  This summer, 350 VT  hosted the second annual Tar Sands Free Kingdom Walk on July 19th and 20th. People walked 18 miles from  North Troy to Irasburg along the pipeline route. As one participant wrote, “we were honoring the land, celebrating the communities of the Northeast Kingdom and calling attention to plans for transporting tar sands products through this old pipeline” –the Portland-Montreal Pipeline.  Check out this short video about the walk produced by Arthur Hynes. Grassroots support for the campaign has been picking up steam, with more and more involvement from local residents. Over the next six months, their goal is to get at least six towns in the NEK to pass resolutions against the proposed pipeline.

On Saturday, June 15, around 350 people gathered on the State House lawn and in the Representatives’ Chamber to watch the second annual Climate Change Cabaret, a variety of acts unified by the theme of climate change. Circus performers, dancers, and thespians came together unified by the idea that, through the arts, we can understand the profound impacts and stakes of climate change– and be inspired to action.

We wish 350 Vermont much luck in their efforts moving forward working toward climate solutions!
