May Beer & Cheese Pairing
We are super excited about this month’s beer and cheese pairing; featuring a 6 month Spanish Manchego with Weihenstephaner’s Hefeweisse for May!
Manchego is a pale yellow in color, semi-soft sheep’s milk cheese, produced in the La Mancha region of Spain; which is also coincidentally home to Don Quixote. It is made from unpasteurized sheep’s milk and is one of the most popular cheeses from Spain! The traditional use of grass molds leaves a distinctive, characteristic zig-zag pattern on the rind of the the cheese. The 6 month aging makes it acquire a caramel, nutty flavor with distinct acidity.
Weihenstephaner’s Hefeweissbier is brewed according to century-old brewing traditions on the Weihenstephan Hill in Freising, Germany. It is a golden-yellow wheat beer that pours with a white foam and boasts aromas of cloves and has a refreshing banana flavor. It is full-bodied with a smooth yeasty taste.
We think the mild, salty nuttiness of Spain’s favorite cheese, Manchego, really brings out the bready, fruity body of Weihenstephaner’s Hefeweisse wheat beer! Stop by and grab a bottle and a slice to take home and try today!
