Nina’s Tips & Techniques Summer Salad Series: Figs

Figs are so fancy…I feel intimidated to use them!

Figs are just another fruit – don’t let them freak you out! And by all means, use them, because they are so delicious!

Ok, so what do you do with them?

Ripe figs are incredible just as is and make an amazing snack. They make your kids look cool if you send them in a lunch box to school or camp! You can rub them with olive oil or melted butter and roast them—they are great served with roasted meats or vegetables and out of this world with cheese. Add them into any oven dish, like a roasted chicken or lamb leg, or try adding chopped figs into muffins or breads. Basically, they are one of most versatile fruits that are overlooked way too often!
