Easy Marinara Sauce

  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes
  • 4 sprigs fresh or 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 4 sprigs fresh or 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Fresh basil
  • Kosher salt and fresh cracked black pepper

In a large skillet over low heat, cook the onion and garlic in the olive oil until very soft and fragrant.  Add the tomatoes, sugar and herbs and simmer for 10-20 minutes to infuse all the flavors.  Add the fresh basil and season to taste with salt and pepper.  Store tomato sauce in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or process in canning jars.
