Saratoga Fair Trade Market Expo
We enjoyed our time at the first annual Saratoga Fair Trade Market Expo on Saturday December 6th. This expo was organized by the The Bosnian Handcraft Project of New Life Fellowship church to support people and businesses from the U.S. and around the world that practice Fair Trade principles, such as fair wages and conditions for workers. Buying Fair Trade helps farmers and artisans build sustainable businesses that feed families and positively influence their communities. Many of the vendors donate a portion or all of their proceeds to the Fair Trade cause.
Fair Trade practices seek to empower family farmers and workers around the world, while enriching the lives of those struggling in poverty. Through direct, equitable trade, farming and working families are able to eat better, keep their kids in school, improve health and housing, and invest in the future. Keeping families, local economies, the natural environment, and the larger community strong today and for generations to come.
Items for purchase at the Fair Trade Market Expo included handbags, slippers, jewelry, hats, gloves, scarves, table linens, soaps, American Girl Doll clothing, home goods, hair accessories, quilts, tote bags, children’s toys, sweaters, ice cream, chocolate, books and kid’s clothes. We were on-site offering free Fair Trade product samples and valuable coupons to our store!
We want to thank our friends from Albert’s Organics for their donation of Fair Trade Organic Bananas that we gave to Guests of the Expo! They were a big hit! Healthy Living offers many Fair Trade products. We’re proud to carry Fair Trade bananas, many kinds of coffee and chocolate, avocados, sugar, nuts, rice, herbs and spices, body care products and our entire line of Tierra Farms bulk products including nuts, trail mix, chocolate and much more! Look for the Fair Trade label the next time you’re shopping, and find a plethora of products that support farmers, fair wages, and sustainable trade practices. Thank you to our friends at Tierra Farms who donated some cocoa dusted almonds, dark chocolate covered raisins, and some fair trade coffee beans which we served as iced coffee for our Guests.
