Some of Healthy Living’s Favorite Food Blogs!

In the Kitchen with Bronwyn (www.IntheKitchenwithBronwyn.com) A local from South Burlington, Bronwyn has been cooking since childhood. Julia Child, James Beard, Lidia Bastianich, and Alice Waters are only a few of the cookbook authors who have been her food mentors. In the last decade, she has written about food for Saveur, Gourmet, and Slow Food on-line. In 2009 she began a cooking series, Cooking with the Masters here at Healthy Living & Café. In The Kitchen with Bronwyn is her online culinary center, a place where she shares her food interests and ideas with readers, writes about her family history, and enjoys being in the kitchen with new friends and old, as they “talk” about the thing that interests them most: food!

Smitten Kitchen (http://smittenkitchen.com/) Deb is the kind of person you might innocently ask what the difference is between summer and winter squash and she’ll go on for about twenty minutes before coming up for air to a cleared room and you soundly snoring. It’s taken some time, but she’s finally realized that there are people out there that might forgive her for such food, cooking and ingredient-obsessed blathering and possibly, even come back for more. She likes her current gig – the one where she wakes up and cooks whatever she feels like that day. When she’s not prattling on about galley and grub, Deb is an occasional freelance writer and photographer. Check out Smitten Kitchen for Deb’s hilarious stories, delicious recipes and beautiful photography!

Joy the Baker (http://joythebaker.com/) Joy is a quirky 30-something living in LA. She is a self taught/ family taught/ taste buds taught baker and cook. She grew up in the kitchen in between her father, who makes a mean Sweet Potato Pie, and her mother, who makes a really weird purple hot dog casserole… don’t ask. Between her kitchen loving parents, the clinking cake pans, and the flying flour, it became clear that baking was in her blood. If you’re in the mood for a good laugh and a great recipe, check out Joy the Baker!

Healthy Seasonal Recipes (http://www.healthyseasonalrecipes.com/) Katie Webster, a local from Richmond, VT earned a BS in Studio Art from Skidmore College in 1997 and an AOS in Culinary Arts from the New England Culinary Institute in 2001. Today she is a free-lance recipe developer, food and prop stylist, food writer and blogger specializing in healthy, seasonal cuisine. She has been a recipe developer and food stylist for EatingWell Magazine since 2002. As a member of their famed test kitchen team she has developed recipes and made the food “look pretty” for the magazine and online content. She has also had a hand in recipes and styling for eleven of the EatingWell cookbooks, including James Beard Award winner, The Simple Art of EatingWell. Check out her blog, Healthy Seasonal Recipes, for inspiration on local, healthful eating!

101 Cookbooks (http://www.101cookbooks.com/) Heidi Swanson is a California-based cookbook author, photographer, website publisher and shop curator. She is a New York Times bestselling writer and won a 2012 James Beard Award for her cookbook, Super Natural Every Day: Well- Loved Recipes from My Natural Foods Kitchen. Her blog 101 Cookbooks started in early 2003 upon looking at her huge cookbook collection one afternoon and realizing that instead of exploring the different books in her collection – she was cooking the same recipes over and over. She made a resolution; she would stop buying cookbooks, or at least scale back, and start trying new recipes. In the process she hoped to learn new techniques, explore unfamiliar ingredients, discover/keep track of new recipes, document her successes and failures, and hopefully inspire other cooks to do the same. Heidi’s recipes are all vegetarian and use all natural ingredients. As a natural foods store, we can’t help but love her and her recipes!
