Where are the pine nuts?

You may have noticed that we’re running a little low on pine nuts lately.  We are doing our best to keep pine nuts in stock, but have decided to no longer carry Pine Nuts from China and are currently working to find another source.

Our pine nuts were sourced from China, but recent studies have shown that a small minority of pine nuts from Asia are causing metallic taste disturbances, also known as “pine mouth”.  This develops 1-3 days after consumption and can last from a couple days up to a couple weeks.  While it’s very unpleasant, there are no lasting effects.  It’s been hypothesized that the nut trees are absorbing something and passing it on to the nuts, or the nuts themselves are being treated with something prior to packaging.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause in your shopping routine, and we promise that we’re working our hardest to find another source.  Please contact customer service if you have any questions or concerns.
