Wine of the Week – 2010 Las Brujas Tannat

Ever tasted wine from Uruguay or a tannat wine?  Here’s the chance to accomplish both!

On the road all of us travel, we always are striving to be healthy, wealthy, and wise.  As such, our wine of the week fulfills all of the above!  Off we go to South America and more specifically Uruguay to visit the Tannat grape.

With three to four more procyanidins than other red wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon, this flavonoid-rich powerhouse is now one of the most prominent grapes in Uruguay, where it’s considered the “national grape.”

With soft tannins, elegance, and blackberry notes, this wine holds its own with any big dish.  Las Brujas means “the witches”, which is the name of the vineyard, surrounded by rivers and lush green meadows.  Come give this hand-harvested tannat a spin on your palate.
