Wine of the Week – Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone 2010

The Rhone Valley of France produces some of the best wines on the planet.  The Rhone has had a string of great vintages going back at least a decade with small hiccups in 2002 and 2008. The vintage of 2010 was no exception. This wine was named in the Top 100 Wines of the Year from Wine Spectator in the 2009 vintage.

Just released, this wine shows the vibrant fuchsia color of a young Rhone. Aromas of cherry, blackberry and Herbs de Provence jump from the glass. On the palate dark berries, plum, chocolate, and earth predominate leading to a full, long, lingering finish. 100% Syrah from declassified Gigondas vineyards.

Drink this now with a grilled rib eye or herb roasted lamb, or cellar for the next ten years.
