Wine of the Week – Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone 2010

The Rhone Valley of France produces some of the best wines on the planet.  The Rhone has had a string of great vintages going back at least a decade. The vintage of 2010 was no exception. This wine was named in the Top 100 Wines of the Year from Wine Spectator in the 2009 vintage.

Just released, this wine shows the vibrant fuchsia color of a young Rhone. Aromas of cherry, blackberry and Herbs de Provence jump from the glass. Dark berries, plum, chocolate, and earth dominate on the palate leading to a full, long, lingering finish. This is a killer value from Rhone specialist Louis Barruol.  He also makes incredible single vineyard Gigondas, of which Vermont was allocated 12 bottles of the Le Claux and 6 bottles of the Hominis Fides, and yes Healthy Living has both!

Drink this now with a grilled rib eye or herb roasted lamb, or cellar for up to the next ten years.
