Happy 4th of July! With our Vermont state motto – Freedom and Unity – you know we value the meaning of Independence Day. Not only does the 4th remind us to celebrate the independence of our country, but it’s a special family day. All across our nation, families gather for picnics, cookouts, parades, baseball games, fireworks and more. At Healthy Living we love being a part of every family celebration by providing the freshest local produce, the highest-grade meats and poultry, loads of vegan and vegetarian options, and refreshing thirst quenchers. PRODUCE
Local Organic Strawberries – From Adam’s Berry Farm, Last Resort Farm, and Danbury Farm! The long wait is over! Local berries are super sweet and fleeting so get them while you can and eat them as soon as you buy them!
Local Organic Lettuce – We have romaine, red and green leaf, red and green oak, and red and green Boston lettuces! From our friends at Stony Loam Farm and River Berry Farm!
Local Organic Cherry Tomatoes and Basil – Are starting up for the season! We have mixed cherry tomatoes from Pete’s Greens this week, with more to come from Jericho Settlers, River Berry Farm, and Burnt Rock Farm – soon! Local organic basil is on the scene, big bunches complete with roots from Burnt Rock Farm is excellent for making pesto.
Local Organic Dill, Radishes, Salad Mixes and Spinach from Diggers Mirth Collective in the Intervale – It doesn’t get much closer than Burlington’s Intervale – we’ve been working with Diggers’ Mirth Collective for over 20 years and always look forward to their delicious greens, herbs, radishes, and more.
Local Organic Kale, Chard, Collards and Dandelion Greens from Knee Deep Farm, River Berry Farm, and Full Moon Farm – How do we do it!? We have long time partnerships with all of our farms to keep our greens all local, all summer. We’ve been working with many of these amazing farms for decades!
Organic Jackfruit – It looks like an alien pod, and tastes like Juicy Fruit! Jackfruit is a delicious, gigantic fruit that can be eaten as is (once you pick it out of the rind, that is) or cooked like a protein for our plant-based food lovers out there.
Organic Black Sapphire (Witches Fingers) Grapes – Don’t let their appearance scare you, Black Sapphire grapes are elongated and soft to the touch, but super sweet and juicy. The dustiness on the outside is naturally produced by the fruit – called “bloom” and is an indicator of freshness!
