Classic Corn Dogs

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup AP flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2, 16 oz packages of hot dogs
  • 16 wooden skewers
  • Vegetable oil; as needed

In a medium bowl combine cornmeal, flour, salt, sugar and baking powder. Whisk in eggs and milk. Preheat oil to 375-400 degrees. Skew hot dogs onto skewers and then roll hot dogs into batter until well coated. Fry corn dogs for about 3 minutes each until golden brown. Drain on paper towels and eat hot!
