Crispy Garlic Falafels

  • 2 cups canned chickpeas; drained
  • 1 small yellow onion; roughly chopped
  • 3 Tbsp fresh parsley; minced
  • 3 Tbsp fresh cilantro; minced
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 4-6 Tbsp flour
  • Salt and fresh cracked pepper
  • Vegetable oil; as needed for frying

Put first 8 ingredients in food processor and process until it forms a very coarse paste, all ingredients should be just smaller than pea size. Sprinkle in baking powder and flour and mix until a clumpy ball forms. Do not over mix. Form into balls 1-1 1/2 inches in diameter. Fill deep pot with 3 inches of oil and heat to 375 degrees. Fry balls for a few minutes per side until crisp and browned.
