Smokin’ at Healthy Living!

One of our favorite parts of summer is the abundance of barbecue: the aroma of smoldering hardwood, the careful selection of meats and veggies, and the time and experience required are apparent in every mouth-watering bite of a properly-executed ‘cue. With the warm months fleeting in our corner of Vermont, why wouldn’t we want to extend the smoky succulence for as long as possible?

At Healthy Living’s café, our passion for food runs deep. So we threw our seasonal sensibilities to the wind and set up a smoker on our  patio to supply our community with some truly spectacular smoked dishes—to help us through short, chilly days, and long, chillier nights. Kitchen Manager Chris Conn and Food and Beverage Manager Faeryl Ray, both accomplished chefs,  have been hard at work developing recipes to highlight this fantastic new addition to our café. The results speak for themselves: Smoked Seafood Chowder, Pulled Pork with House-Made BBQ Sauce, and (coming soon!) Smoked Seitan Breakfast Sandwiches.

Look for dishes featuring house-smoked meats, seafood, vegetables, and meat substitutes on our hot bar, in our soups, and in our grab-and-go cases all winter long!
