Sesame Chicken
- 1 whole chicken, cut into 8 pieces (2 bone-in breasts, 2 wings, 2 drums, 2 thighs)
- ¼ cup mirin
- ¼ cup tamari
- ¼ cup fresh ginger, peeled and grated
- ¼ cup sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons black sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon rice syrup
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ¼ cup water
- ¼ cup scallions
- 2 tablespoons white sesame seeds
- In a large bowl, whisk together the marinade ingredients: mirin, tamari, ginger, sesame oil, black sesame seeds, rice syrup, black pepper and water together until they are combined.
- Cover the chicken with the marinade and let it sit overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Place the chicken and all of the marinade into a small roasting pan. Place the chicken into the preheated oven.
- Cook until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165 degrees, about 45 minutes.
- Garnish with scallions and white sesame seeds before serving.
