Baked Apples with Crispy-Crunch Cinnamon Oat Topping
- 2 Apples
- 2 Tbsp cold cubed butter
- 2 Tbsp flour
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 2 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 4 Tbsp fruit preserves of your choice
The perfect fall dessert. Local apples with a sweet, crunchy oat topping; serve warm with vanilla ice cream…yum!
Preheat your oven to 400°F. Cut the apples in half and use a melon baller to scoop out the core and seeds. Place the apples cut side up in a baking dish and fill each hole (where the core was removed) with 1 Tbsp of fruit preserves. In a separate bowl, combine the remaining ingredients and using your fingers, rub the mixture together until it us sandy and crumbly. Sprinkle the topping over the apples evenly. Place the tray in the oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until the topping is crisp and golden brown. Cool and serve.
