Dad’s Maple Pecan Granola

  • 4 cups rolled oats
  • ½ cup sliced almonds
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • ½ cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/2 cup wheat germ
  • ½ cup dry milk or dry goat milk
  • ¼ cup sesame seeds
  • ½ cup raisins or any other dried fruit of your choice
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • ½ cup vegetable oil

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In a large mixing bowl combine oats, nuts, sunflower seeds, wheat germ, dry milk and sesame seeds and mix together. In a small pot combine the maple syrup and oil (I like canola oil). Heat until just warm, not boiling. Pour maple-oil mixture over the grains and mix until everything is evenly coated. Spread the granola out on a large sheet tray and place in oven. After 10 minutes remove from oven and turn with a spatula. Return to oven and repeat every 10 minutes for about 40 minutes or until the grains are a golden brown color and no longer sticking together. Let cool and add raisins. Store in an air tight container or plastic bag.
