Sweet and Zesty Barbecue Wings
For the wings:
- 1 lb chicken wings
- 1/2 stick butter, melted
- 2 Tbsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the BBQ sauce:
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1/2 yellow or white onion, minced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 cups ketchup
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 5 Tbsp dark brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp worcerstershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Preheat oven to 450°F. Massage wings with butter and season with garlic, salt, and pepper. Bake in oven for 20-30 minutes until golden brown and crisp, tossing halfway through. Once the wings are cooked to your liking, toss with BBQ sauce.
In a large saucepan on medium heat, melt butter. Add onion and garlic and cook until soft and fragrant, about 5 minutes. Once onion is clear and garlic is soft, add remaining ingredients and stir to incorporate. Cook for an additional 15 minutes or up to 1 hour.
