Cheesy Brussel Sprout Gratin

  • 2 Tbsp butter; cut into small pieces, plus more to grease dish with
  • 1 pound Brussel sprouts; halved
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sharp cheese (like parmagiano, cheddar or another flavorful hard cheese); shredded
  • 3 shallots; shaved thin
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • Salt and fresh cracked pepper; as desired

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bring a large pot of slated water to a boil and add brussels. Cook until tender, about 8-10 minutes. Drain the brussels and coarsely chop. Transfer to a buttered baking dish and toss with salt and pepper. Pour cream over top, sprinkle with cheese and breadcrumbs and dot with butter pieces. Bake for about 15 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbly.
