Classic Italian Sauce
- 1 small onion; diced
- 3 cloves galic; minced
- 2 (32 ounce) cans crushed tomatoes
- 8-10 basil leaves
- 2 bay leaves
- 4 Tbsp unsalted butter
- Olive oil; as needed
- Sugar; as needed
- Salt and pepper; to taste
Cover the bottom of a large soup pan with oil. Turn heat to medium and add onions and garlic. Cook until translucent. Add tomatoes, basil, and bay leaves and let simmer for 20-30 minutes. Add butter and mix until incorporated. Add salt and pepper to taste. If sauce is too acidic add sugar one tablespoon at a time until desired taste is reached.
