Easy Home-Made Red Sauce
- 1 onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 can crushed tomatoes
- 4 sprigs fresh or 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 4 sprigs fresh or 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- Fresh basil
- Kosher salt and fresh cracked black pepper
In a large skillet over low heat, cook the onion and garlic in the olive oil until very soft and fragrant. Add the tomatoes and herbs and simmer for 10-20 minutes to infuse all the flavors. Add the fresh basil and season to taste with salt and pepper. Store tomato sauce in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or process in canning jars!
